As I get ready for our Market Party, I’m remembering all the fun we had while in Chicago for the spring trade show. I know the nickname Windy City isn’t really derived from the weather phenomena, but… One sunny afternoon, we stopped for lunch while walking around the neighborhood. The trendy little cafe had outdoor seating - so, why not? The wind wasn’t too big an issue, until all the menus blew down the sidewalk! We enjoyed our yummy lunch, while clutching our bags, and napkins. Next was a stroll through the neighborhood to get back home. I enjoy seeing the historic homes, so I insisted on a wandering path, adding a bunch of steps to the walk, but also views of beautiful gardens and architecture. We came upon a house running the sprinkler full out. Youngest suggested we cross the street to stay out of its way, but I waited, planned my moment, and leaned forward as the sprinkler moved away… Who would have dreamed a strong windburst could blow the flowing water in completely the reverse direction?! For some unknown reason, once completely soaked, I made my way out into the street to “stay dry”. I guess no matter how carefully you plan, sometimes life's headwinds have other ideas…

Wishing you calm moments this week,

Mary Beth

This Saturday (6-6-26) those in our beginning of the month pieced Saturday Sampler program will meet at 9:00am. As usual, there will be lots to see and learn about. We will look at new things that have arrived for the day’s market party, and then we will move on to the next block kit in the series. This month we will be talking about working with smaller cut pieces of fabric - how to keep things just as well pieced as when you use larger cuts! Don’t forget your blocks from last month for show and tell!

QC Spring Market Party!

Saturday ~ June 6th

New goodies will be featured in the shop this Saturday - in a lecture, demos, displays, and a door prize! Hope you can stop in!!!

Lecture ~ 11:00am - During this presentation you will have a chance to see some of what we saw in Chicago, and boy was there a lot! You also will receive a little gift when you attend!

Demo ~ Demos will be shared from 1:00pm to 3:00pm. We will look at two different rulers (each most useful!) and a new pattern featuring circles (you know how I love circles!) - stop in at any point as the demos will repeat as needed!

This is going to sound like a strange thing for a quilt shop to be excited about… Over the last months there have been shipping issues with the batting we love, Quilters Dream Batting. During that time we tried other batts and they just weren’t the same… Great news - Quilters Dream batting is back! You will find several different fiber combinations, batting weights, and sizes - now might be the moment to snag what you need!

Watch your QC date book for information about fun things happening in the coming weeks. You might want to stop in for the market party (mentioned above), or for National Sewing Machine Day, or may even want to make a plan to get the charm squares that will be available at the beginning of July…

Oh my goodness - holiday fabric is pouring in! Several fabulous fall collections arrived recently, but they are being overshadowed by Christmas designs at this point! I want to quickly mention one here, Snow Time, new from Moda. The brightly colored, cheerful, whimsical prints are the work of Me and My Sister. If you’ve been participating in our Charm Club you may recognize the company name, as they are the designers of the Charm quilt patterns. As you might expect, I can’t resist making the June design (available next week) with this group. Twirl is going to be so cute in the bright reds and greens - I can’t wait to start stitching!!!

Fabric $13.49 per yard, charm pack $12.99 (club pattern is free with the purchase of a charm pack!) See these online...

We are more than glad (actually we’re thrilled) that we can offer machine repair services. The service person does a fantastic job! That being said, he is taking a short break. If your machine needs to be serviced, please keep it at your house for the next few weeks - the next pick up day will be June 22nd.
