Our youngest was walking in her neighborhood with a friend. They were enjoying their journey from one thrift store to the next. How fun would it be to be within walking distance of at least ten thrift stores?! Her friend told her she would just go on ahead when youngest became distracted on the street. She’d witnessed youngest's reaction to Girl Scout cookie season in the past… The young girls had their display in place on the sidewalk, they were making their pitch to anyone that would slow down, they were bringing back memories for her. She selected two boxes and told them she was sorry she couldn’t get more, as she didn’t have more cash. My how times have changed. They told her no problem - they could take credit cards… Wow - now she can get cookies, and fabric with just a tap!

Wishing you a most sweet week,

Mary Beth

Good gracious the days are flying by! This Saturday (3-21-26) those in our applique Saturday Sampler program will meet at 9:00am. We will share information about things that are going on in the quilt world and then move on to the next block in our 2026 Window Garden quilt. We will focus on hand applique technique, and a few little tricks for constructing the new block. Don’t forget your block from last month for show and tell!

Those is our Starry foundation pieced block of the month group will also be meeting this Saturday. The noon session is a chance to check in, ask questions, and share what you have created so far. Bonnie will be here to give a look at the foundation piecing technique she uses, and there will even be little prizes - bring your questions and your blocks!

Simple Whatnots Club at QC

Thursday ~ March 26th ~ 10:30am

We had a wonderful time at our first Simple Whatnots meeting of the year. Maybe you would like to join us for the session this month? Each month we show pieces we have made using Kim Diehl patterns and fabric, and then move on to the next project in the series. This month we will be working on Prairie Pretties. The 17” x 17” quilt is made up of sixteen Nine Patch blocks and nine Shoo Fly blocks - that gives you an idea of the size of blocks we make! The program is a great way to refine your piecing skills, and a great way to learn how to use a range of different prints to create terrific little quilts.

Please take a look in your QC date book to see details related to our celebration of PB&J Day in the shop. We use the April 2nd event as a way to support the local, independent food pantry. It’s great fun - you bring a little something for the food pantry (pb&j of course!) and you get a little goodie from us - win, win!!!

The Three Rivers Quilters 2026 Show will be held April 16th to 18th at the Loft Conference Center at Southpointe. I’m sure you’ve heard me say shows are the very best way to see quilts. In that setting they are displayed as true works of art. The show theme is Log Cabin this year (of course, there will be lots of quilts displayed that are not Log Cabin pieces, as well). I mention this because you can see the show raffle quilt in the shop now. The elegant Log Cabin style piece is worked in French General fabrics - well worth a look! Make plans to attend the show - maybe gather a group of friends and make a day of it - I know you will enjoy it!

Southwestern PA Shop Hop ~ May 11th - 16th

Passport Premiere Party ~ April 11th!

I mentioned the revival of the Southwestern PA Shop Hop several weeks ago. I want to quickly remind you that passports for the May event go on sale in just a couple weeks. April 11th is your first chance to purchase the passport for the eight stop hop, while enjoying a technique demo, a little treat, and the first block pattern for the 2026 hop progressive quilt. We can’t wait to welcome you!

Marcia Derse’s The Plaid One collection deserves a quick mention. Actually, the line deserves a close look when you next visit! The plaids in the group are worked in vibrant colors, in a less rigid layout - maybe a little different than you would expect… Names like String Theory Plaid, Linoleum Plaid, Window Pane,... give you an idea of the quirky nature of the group. Debbie cut right into them for her version of Villa Rosa’s Jasper. Don’t you love the way the fuchsia, lime, and melon plaids work together?! Fabric $14.49 per yard, pattern $2.00
