Earlier in the week, one of my friends texted to let me know the sewing portion of the Farm Show was on tv, and they were mentioning learning to sew in 4H. I sometimes talk about growing up in the country, and learning to sew in 4H, but we also learned to refinish furniture, to knit, to cook, to speak in public… I’m so very grateful that “out of school” program was available to me! Yesterday I was busy arranging things in the front of the shop when a guest walked in. I greeted her, and she tentatively said, “Mary Beth?” As it turns out, I had just welcomed the daughter of one of my 4H leaders - the woman who taught the sewing! You have to keep in mind, I didn’t grow up in western Pennsylvania, I grew up in western New York! I was terribly excited to see her, and was reminded a second time this week how very grateful I am for everyone that has taught me about sewing! I hope she remembers to tell her Mom how excited I was!
Wishing you a week of pleasant surprises, and happy memories,
Mary Beth

Good gracious, hard to believe - it’s the start of a new year and the start of a new applique Saturday Sampler program here in the shop!!! Window Garden, our exclusive 2026 design, includes thirteen 8” x 14” blocks featuring brightly colored, imaginary blooms sprouting from flower pots or vases. If you are registered for the program, please join us at 9:00am this Saturday (1-17-26) to get the project started. We will share project details, the first kit in the series, and an introduction to the techniques we will use to construct the applique blocks. While the program is full, those not registered will be able to get the block kits for $12.95 per month (please ask about purchasing them when you next visit). Also, we will be crowded on Saturday - there is parking in back of the shop, as well as in the front. Consider wearing your boots and walking carefully when in the lot or along the street! Have I mentioned how much I detest winter?!!!

QC Fat Quarter Fling!
Saturday ~ January 17th
New Year’s festivities are a little different here… We figure there is no better time to start a new project, and no better way to get started, than at our Fat Quarter Fling! During the Fling, on Saturday the 17th, every in stock, pre-cut fat quarter will be just $1.38 (as we begin our 38th year!). You will find individual fat quarters in a rainbow of colors, and stacks of fat quarters, all over the shop - all offered at the Fling price! You will also have a chance to fling a little fabric to win, you guessed it, a little more fabric! It’s usually pretty crazy during this event, but it’s a fun crazy…
PS If you have our 2026 QC Date Book be sure to check it for more information about the Fling!
