Some weeks require a novel approach… Some days can be plain old challenging!

Notice anything strange about my first two sentences? Weeks ago I noticed my computer had a bit of an issue… The left hand shift key didn’t seem to be doing its job. It’s quite amazing how fast you can adapt if you find yourself in that situation. Who would have thought I rarely use it and I could make do… Things got a bit tougher this week. If you take a look at the first two sentences again, you might be able to figure out the new issue - now the “t” doesn’t work! My computer savvy friends and family members suggested cleaning the keyboard with a little canned air. Sad news - the “t” still doesn’t work, but when I inadvertently hit the left shift button it now works!!! Feels kind of like when I stitch something incorrectly, rip it out, and then realize it was correct the first time… You may wonder how I am managing to write this letter (with lots of “ts”) - I’m using an additional keyboard. It’s way bigger than the one on my laptop, so I need to look at the keys as I type - ugh - so inefficient! I figure when I try to fix the next unresponsive key the “t” will magically work - cross your fingers for me!

Wishing everything at your fingertips works perfectly this week,

Mary Beth

PS Youngest thought I should accept the challenge of writing the entire letter with no “t”!

This Saturday (5-24-25) those in our beginning of the month pieced Saturday Sampler program will meet at 9:00am. During the session we will share the next block in the series and information that will help you piece the triangles featured in the block. Show and tell, and shop news rounds out the session. Be sure to bring your block from last time - we so love seeing everyone's blocks!

Our Stash Management Club meeting is also on Saturday. At 10:30 we will enjoy member show and tell, news and tips, and a new pattern that will help you cut into the fabric in your collection.

In December we presented a program that detailed many of the block-of-the-month programs we will be offering this year. We even shared incomplete information about some of the programs we couldn’t resist, even though they were a ways out. We finally have the details about the project we simply called Wreath Sampler. Make it Merry is a medallion style quilt with a twist - contemporary style, created with unique blocks that form a wreath when they are assembled! The 59” x 59” piece is worked over the course of six steps - thus, over six months. This time you get to select fabrics you wish to make your version of the quilt (of course, with guidance if you would like!). Good news - the holiday fabrics have started arriving - several groups would be great options for the project. Love & Cheer, new from Moda, includes several prints that would make exquisite borders for the quilt. Choose coordinating prints and you will be ready to stitch when the project begins in June.

Block-of-the-month fee - registration $10.00, and $5.00 per month, fabric $13.59 per yard

Last week I mentioned that the All Mid-Atlantic Shop Hop magazines have arrived. At that point, I didn’t think to mention the fabric collection created for the event. This year the main panel print features the state capitals and is complemented by lots of red, white and blue coordinates. The patterns created for the event (directions in the magazine!) are quite wonderful. Please let us know if you would like to pre-order a  kit for any of the projects, as I fear the fabric will go very quickly when it hits the shelves on July 1st!

Let us know if you will be able to join us for the Comfort Cases maker reception on June 14th at 1:00pm. We will present information about Comfort Cases and our drop off, as well as treats and little thank you gifts. Choosing Color With Confidence

Tuesday ~ June 24th ~ 10:30am-12:30pm

In this lecture format class you will be introduced to basic color theory as it pertains to selecting fabrics for quilt making. We are surrounded by color everywhere, every day, and thus, may take color for granted. We can choose color intuitively or consciously. The difficulty is trusting those instincts. We will study how to go about choosing with confidence during the session.

Fee $15.00

Please note ~ current shop hours are 10:00am-4:00pm Monday thru Saturday.
