I so enjoy visiting different parts of the country. Our youngest is always willing to be my tour guide. She plans every minute of our adventures… This time we enjoyed beautiful gardens, a farmer’s market, a huge park, botanical garden, pottery class, wonderful restaurants,... Take 17,000 steps a day and you can cover a lot of ground! As the time was winding down, she asked if I wanted to make a last visit to the fabric chain store. Knowing just how limited her access to fabric is becoming, I happily agreed. So, we walked a bit further to catch a bus deeper into the city. The interesting ride (I got to see areas I’ve never seen before) was followed by another walk. The path shown on her phone showed us walking around and then behind a bowling alley, through a sketchy parking lot, and directly to the loading dock of the store! Oops! After the trek to the front, we shopped and then took an Uber back home. Next up, a different Uber ride to get me to the airport. I texted her about thirty minutes into the ride to tell her I was passing another, better looking, one of the fabric chains’ stores… Oh wait, not another… The exact same store, now seen from the front of the huge plaza! Just shows, it’s always all about your perspective!

Wishing you a week of wonderful adventures and marvelous views,

Mary Beth

This Saturday (5-17-25) those in our applique Saturday Sampler program will meet at 9:00am. Comfort Cases Project ~

While at the H+H show I was able to spend a few minutes talking with Stacey Lee, the creative force behind the Comfort Cases quilt drive. The plan this year is to take the quilts to Comfort Cases at the end of May - thus, please try to have your pieces in the shop by May 27th. Quilts have been coming in for several weeks now. You are all so very creative and generous!  To thank you for your donations, we are hosting a maker reception on Saturday, June 14th at 1:00pm. We will tell you a bit about the organization, share stories from our quilt delivery visit, and share thank you treats - both the sweet kind and the quilty kind! Please let us know by June 11th if you plan to attend!

Spring Market Party!

Saturday ~ June 7th

Market lecture ~ 10:30 am

I was thrilled to be attending the H+H trade show for the third year in a row. The show was a colorful showcase for all things fiber - from knitting, to weaving, needlework, and tons of quilting! Yes, I was tempted by the yarn, but I mainly focused on the quilty portion of the show. I spent hours and hours checking out the newest fabrics, patterns, and techniques, while talking with industry leaders and shop owners from near and far. It was a true delight! By the first Saturday in June many of the things we ordered should have arrived and we will be ready to share what we saw, and heard, with everyone. Consider registering for the 10:30am lecture - there will be stories and pictures, and little treats - maybe register today?!

New fabrics are, once again, everywhere in the shop! I don’t think I’ve mentioned the newest group from Robin Pickens (you know how much I love her designs!). Superbloom features gorgeous flowers in bright, bold colors. When they arrived we just happened to have a beautiful spring bouquet on the counter (thank you Judy for the flowers!). It was amazing to see how the colors in the prints mimicked those in the actual flowers! You are going to love these - be sure to snag a piece of the floral ombre print - both the flowers and colors change across the width of the fabric! $12.99 per yard

New books from Fabric Cafe arrived yesterday! You might think you’ve seen every possible 3-Yard quilt, but nope! I think you are going to love the projects in each book. “Make It Home” shares seven unique quilts, each quite tempting. You will, once again, find a range of quilt sizes using three fabrics in one yard, two yard or four yard lengths. The difference is, you will also find directions for other home accent pieces in this volume - table runners, pillows, wallhangings,... Talk about an inspiration packed book! “Big Block 3-Yard Quilts” includes eight more pieced designs that showcase larger prints - you know the ones - those you love so much you don’t want to cut them into little pieces! Be sure to check out our version of the book’s Perspective design - the Tula print is the star of the show in this one! Please let us know if you would like us to hold copies for you - they were there today, but tomorrow could be a whole different story! Books $19.99 each
