Dear Friends,

The four year old in our family is quite the character, and becoming more of one every day. When he runs an errand with his Dad he now gets to select who to call during the trip. He figures out who he wants to ask a question, and then they dial. Last week my question was why do cows give milk, with a follow up of then why do we drink it. Very good point… Yesterday was how do bushes grow into trees, followed by an addition problem. I’m holding my own so far, geometry should be ok, but when he gets to calculus problems I’m going to have to give in and tell him to ask his Dad!

Wishing you a week of fun conversations and easy questions,

Mary Beth

We are on to the third applique block in the 2024 Saturday Sampler series this Saturday (3-16-24). At 9:00am we will share information about things happening in the shop, we will enjoy show and tell, and then we will pass out the new kit and spend a bit of time covering more applique techniques. It is great fun designing the blocks for the series and then seeing them come to life with your stitches - your blocks are fantastic!

QC Quilt Builder Card Deck 3 Sew Along -

Meeting #2 - Saturday ~ March 16th ~ 11:00am

We have been stitching blocks from the Quilt Builder Card Deck for weeks and weeks. I figure you may have questions by this point in the series! Plan to stop in on Saturday to take a look at the newest blocks, to share the blocks you have made, to see one of the setting options included in the box, and to ask questions. We will even hold another prize drawing during the session. The two blocks shown here are those for this week - boy, there were a lot of triangles in them!

At the moment we have a spectacular blue and yellow pieced quilt displayed as you enter the shop. The piece is the raffle quilt for the Three Rivers Quilters April 11th to 13th show. The elegant blue and yellow floral print used for the design is perfectly complemented by the quilts pieced Flying Geese units (it certainly showcases the Flying Geese show theme!). It is truly a wonderful example of a group project - well worth a look now, and then again at the show!

New fabrics are once again pouring into the shop! I just have to share a quick look at one group! Midas Touch, designed by Deborah Edwards and Melanie Samra, came out of the boxes Tuesday. We were met by elegant, flowing color, accented with gold, as we pulled the plastic from each bolt. Deep blues, greens, and gray make up a portion of the designs, while light peach, rose and sage are featured on the others. A stunning panel is offered in each of the colors, as are each of the coordinates. I began cutting into them for a 3 Yard quilt last night. My hope is that the simple pieced quilt will allow the prints to shine - literally and figuratively!

Fabric ~ $13.30 per yard

Triangles - Terrific or Terrible?!

Saturday ~ April 20th ~ 12:00pm-1:30pm

I know some of you love working with triangles, while others aren’t so thrilled. No matter your take, they are an essential component of countless pieced quilt patterns. During the session we will look at a wide range of ways to accurately construct both Flying Geese and Half Square Triangles. We will review the math required to work different techniques, allowing you to work with your favorite, no matter what a pattern might say!

Fee $15.00 - please bring paper and pencil to class (all other supplies will be provided)

Please note ~ current shop hours are 10:00am-4:00pm Monday thru Saturday.
