Dear Friends,

Sometimes when I get to the email, there are just so many… At that point it takes a pretty unique subject line to catch my attention. “Wouldn’t you think it would fall apart?” got my attention. The email, from a family member, included a photo, a photo of broccoli. At first I wondered why it would fall apart. That was before I realized the broccoli florets were sitting on a washing machine… The broccoli had been wrapped in a towel, forgotten, and then tossed in the washer. I responded with how clean it looked, but she insisted on an answer to the “wouldn’t you think it would fall apart?” question. My sweetie then launched into “Well, it would depend on the type of washing machine”... I was left rolling my eyes, and wondering just how many tiny bits of broccoli she was going to find in her pockets!

To quote her - “May you eat clean broccoli this week, or whenever you next eat broccoli!”

This Saturday (1-27-24) those scheduled for our end of the month pieced Saturday Sampler program will meet at 9:00am. The quilt for this year, Simpler Times, is being offered in two very different color combinations - a very historic style palette or a bold, bright colorway. The sampler style quilt will be made over the course of the year - it is amazing what can be accomplished this way! To join the group you pay $5.00 plus tax for your first kit. You receive the kit, along with a bit of instruction and show and tell, at your first session. If you return with your block finished to the second session, your next kit is free! While this Saturday’s session is full, you may still register for the group that will begin on February 3rd - well worth considering!!!

This Saturday our Stash Management Club will also meet. The 10:30am session will feature show and tell of pieces created with fabrics from the makers collections, as well as, organizing tips and a free pattern that will put even more scraps into play. Fun and inspiring every time - we would love to have you join us. Fee $10.00 for the entire series (this series ends with the August 2024 session)

QC Block of the Month Show and Tell

Sunday ~ February 18th ~ 1:00pm

Your block of the month projects from last year have been looking great - we’ve loved watching the blocks turn into finished pieces. Now it’s time to share your creations with everyone! Why not gather the quilts you made little by little over the last year and bring them along for show and tell? I think you will enjoy seeing just how different the quilts look (even though many began with the same kits), and I know you will enjoy the little gift you receive for sharing your Quilters Corner projects. Please pre-register by February 15th (so we have enough gifts for everyone!).

Shine Together Sew Along

I first shared information about this wonderful 80” x 80” pieced quilt in December. I loved it when I saw the first artwork earlier last year, and loved it even more when I saw the actual quilt in Houston. The quilt is made from fat quarters of Riley Blake's POParazzi and Hush Hush prints (they’ve arrived - talk about a colorful, delightful display toward the front of the shop!). You are going to love the pattern information for this one - it is free on Riley Blake’s website! And it gets better, as each week of the January 12th to March 15th sew along a different designer, or two, will offer an alternate block for the center of the quilts’ Sawtooth Stars! The list of designers includes Lori Holt, Sue Daly, Sandy Gervais, and many, many more. Even though the sew along has already begun, you can still enjoy all the info - and there is lots - it is being so well done! One of our friends has begun stitching. She will share some of her blocks soon - I hope you get to see them, and I hope you will consider joining the fun!!! Fabric $11.30 and $12.60 per yard

Moda’s new Bella solid colors have just arrived. I counted thirty new shades, each a little different from those we already had, and each lovely! I was tempted to change a piece I am using for Elizabeth Hartman’s Crystal Cluster, but then I would need to change another, and another, and... I held firm, so you still have all the new hues to choose from!

Fabric $8.99 per yard

This seems like the right moment to mention, when the weather seems “iffy” you might want to call the shop before setting out. The hills in our area become treacherous very quickly! We try to share information about shop closings on social media, but an old fashioned call sometimes works best. Needless to say, if we don’t answer, we haven’t made it in!

Please note ~ current shop hours are 10:00am-4:00pm Monday thru Saturday.
