Dear Friends,
We were so very lucky to welcome a house full of family members and friends in the last week. The very youngest, now four, heads directly to the closet holding the games, art supplies, and playdough each time he arrives. He seemed a bit befuddled to find the crayons missing from the pile of goodies. When asked, I produced the ziplock bag holding them. After years of artwork on surfaces other than paper (the wall, the table, the sewing machine, young faces and arms,...), I decided I had best keep better track of them. I instructed that they needed to be used at the kitchen table, and put away when he was done with them. I didn’t notice them anywhere later, so I figured they were all back in their little bag. I thought that until I went to put on my sneakers the following morning… I’d like to think the crayons rolled off the table in the kitchen into my sneaker in the family room, but his aunt dubbed the situation “defiant compliance”. No matter which it was, I loved the time spent with a most creative and clever crowd!
May your coming days be filled with color, although maybe not in your shoes…
