You’ll be excited to see our sale fabrics are once again featured on the bench out front on sunny days! At just $6.95 per yard (minimum 1 yard cut) or better still, just $4.95 per yard if you purchase all that remains on the bolt, they are a wonderful way to gather fabrics for your pillowcase race sewing, and for things like quilt backs and borders. There are some really tempting pieces there at the moment - well worth a look!

July is another month with five Saturdays this year. That makes for lots of questions about Saturday Sampler session dates. This month our applique Saturday Sampler session will be held on July 22nd at 9:00am, and our end of the month pieced session will be on July 29th at 9:00am. In both cases, you still have plenty of time to finish your blocks from last month!

QC Barn Star Sampler Sew Along!

Begins July 29th

I was excited to meet Shelley Cavanna, author of the Barn Star Sampler book, at a trade show several weeks ago. I shared how glad I was to see her book, originally released by Martingale, available once again. Access to the book means we can now share the Sew Along we planned ages ago! The fact that Shelley’s new Alpine Valley fabric collection is in the shop makes things even better! To be part of the fun, purchase the book (we currently have them in stock), gather your fabrics (choose any you would like - I’m using Alpine Valley!), and then stop in each week to see the blocks we have made and to show the ones you’ve made during the previous week. The plan is to share two blocks per week for 10 weeks (ok, that kind of means more than two blocks some weeks, as you make multiples of some of the smaller blocks). When you bring your blocks to show you will be entered into a weekly drawing - for things like fabric, patterns, batting,...! You know the weekly prizes will be good - we’re darn good at prizes! Windham’s newest group, Connections, just arrived. Each of Maria Carluccio’s eighteen Connections watercolor designs is amazing. In the group you will find a range of geometric shapes, from triangles, to dots, brush stroke stripes, and checkerboards offered in glorious colors. Use them in quilts, bags, garments - on their own, or mixed with other prints. Talk about tempting…

New ~ Snarky Project bags!

At the trade show several weeks ago these stopped us in our tracks - to giggle! As we looked at them, we decided which was appropriate for which family member! The clear vinyl, 9” x 12” project bags sport zippers in bright colors, and fabulously snarky, sewing themed comments. I figure you might need several, and so do your friends! Stop in soon - I don’t think they’re going to be here very long…

QC Thread the Needle Day 

Tuesday ~ July 25th



On the 25th we will share displays highlighting some of our favorite hand sewing techniques. Enjoy a close look at hand applique, hand piecing, hand quilting, and English Paper Piecing. Bring your QC datebook to enter the drawing for a hand sewing goodie basket, but also to register for a spot in an upcoming hand sewing technique class - a free spot if you have your date book! (one free class per guest - additional classes may be taken at published class prices). Class dates and times will be premiered on the 25th.

Be sure to make plans to visit the shop the last weekend in July. Maybe I should say, make plans to visit our side parking lot and sidewalk! Our annual Sidewalk Celebration, held that weekend, features lots of goodies at unbelievable prices. You will find everything from fabric (lots of fabric!), to books, patterns, discontinued store samples, and our famous goodie baskets outside on July 29th (from 10:00am - 4:00pm) and on July 30th (from 12:00pm - 4:00pm). Keep your fingers crossed for good weather so you will have plenty of time to snag amazing deals!
