Dear Friends,

I was thrilled to pieces with how my applique was coming along on the daylily block in our “From Our Garden” series quilt this month. I always work from one of our kits to be certain we have cut correctly, even though that tends to leave me short on time to get them done. As I hand stitched down one side of the stem, I was congratulating myself on just how quickly and accurately I was working… It seemed to be going down much easier than usual. When I stopped to check my work, I found that I had just stitched the entire edge for a second time. No wonder it was so easy. Next month I’ll have to keep in mind, blocks go faster if you stitch the edges only once!

Wishing you a wonderful week, with not too many duplicated efforts!

As we discussed last month in our Saturday Sampler session, months with five Saturdays present scheduling issues. Months with conflicts, and holidays added to the mix are even worse. Thus, our pieced Saturday Sampler group that meets at the beginning of the month will meet on April 8th at 9:00am. If that causes a conflict for you, as April 1st has for us, you may bring your completed block to show at any other point before April 12th to receive your next kit free. If I am in the shop when you visit, I can do a quick review of tips that will help you construct the new block. Hopefully you can make it on the 8th when we will hold the session that covers not only block construction, but also show and tell, and shop news!

We’ve been at the Three Rivers Quilters show at the Hollywood Casino at the Meadows all day. It is so much fun to see the things displayed! Congratulations to everyone who has pieces in the show (and to those that do the work of making the show possible!) - your work is wonderful. If you didn’t make it to the show today, you still have time to stop. The hours on Friday (3-31-23) are 10:00am to 7:00pm and on Saturday (4-1-23) 10:00am to 4:00pm. It’s so worth a visit!!!

Southwestern PA Shop Hop

Passport Premiere Party ~ April 15th!

I want to remind you again quickly about the Southwestern PA Shop Hop being held this year from June 19th to 24th! The hop will include eight shops, each featuring their version of the event’s progressive quilt. I think you are going to love both the quilt and the event theme this year, Crossword Cruisin’. As you would imagine, you will work on a quilt themed crossword as you travel from stop to stop! Passports for the event make their debut April 15th. Purchase yours at QC that day (they are still just $5.00) and select a free fat quarter from our very “wordy” Premiere Party assortment! You will receive a free fat quarter (along with the progressive quilt patterns and the chance to win prizes!) at each stop during the hop, as well. How can you go wrong when free fat quarters are involved?!

I’ve been tempted to cut into Stardust, new from Paula Nadlestern, ever since we made fat quarter stacks with the prints earlier in the week. I needed to finish some pieces for the quilt show, but now I can cut into the yardage featuring little bursts of color, all bright, rich, deep hues on black. Needless to say, they blend perfectly with her complex, elegant signature pieces! I fear deciding what to stitch is going to distract me from cleaning up my sewing room!

$12.85 per yard

We are working out the details for several new classes. Everything should be ready to share by next week. Two bags and a quilt are on the list - each a great project offering opportunities to learn new techniques.

Please note ~ current shop hours are 10:00am-4:00pm Monday thru Saturday.
