Quilters Corner - March 2, 2023

Dear Friends,

So, there’s a bit more to the smoke detector story from last week…A high school friend of my youngest visited her on the weekend. After a bit she asked, with an annoyed tone, “What is that sound?!”. Youngest and her roommate had no idea what she was talking about. The guest let them know she heard a faint beeping sound every few minutes. “Oh that.” they replied. The roommates have managed to completely block out the beep that is on a 6 minute cycle. As it turns out, while their smoke detector is fine, one in another apartment must need a new battery. Another friend visiting the apartment was happy to hear someone else mention the sound - he feared it was just in his head, as the roommates never mentioned it! I’ve suggested they buy a package of batteries and hang one on every apartment door!

This Saturday (3-4-23) those in our beginning of the month pieced sampler program will meet at 9:00am. During the second session for the project we will share show and tell, shop news, and the next kit in the series. We will also spend time covering techniques that will help you better piece blocks in the series and all the other projects you hope to work on! Don’t forget to bring your block for show and tell.

2022 QC Show and Tell

Saturday ~ March 4th ~ 1:00pm

Our 2022 block-of-the-month show and tell is this Saturday! I bet you can get some of your projects “done” enough for us all to ooh and aah over as you share them! Please let us know today if you plan on bringing a quilt so we can have a little thank you gift ready for you.

Among Brenda’s Quilts and Bags Trunk Show

Brenda’s wonderful bags are now on display throughout the shop. I love seeing the fabrics she selected for each bag, and I appreciate being able to look closely at all the finer details of each piece. Be sure to enter the drawing for a fabric kit for one of the bags when you visit during the trunk show! The bags will be displayed through March 11th.

The warm weather and new fabrics in the shop are lulling me into believing spring has already arrived. Bee Happy, new from Andover, features cheerful bees, a novel tone on tone print, and stylized sunflowers. The bold black, white, yellow and green prints will bring a bit of sunshine to your next project, even if we have to put up with flurries over the next few weeks!
