Dear Friends,

What do you do if you’re a full time student, with an internship as well, and you receive this text?... “Not to be insulting, but would you be able to fix a pant leg hem?” First you send a screenshot of the text to your mom (who never dreamed she’d see that verbiage on anything other than the cute towels in the shop), who immediately begins to giggle as she forms all kinds of responses. My youngest did point out that the “not to be insulting” part was because the one asking knows her as a costume maker, and thought hems might be too lowly a task… That left her wondering who he thought was hemming the costumes! We decided an appropriate response would be, “I’ll be glad to fix the hem, while you make me dinner.” Can you think of a better response (other than my youngest’s eye roll, of course)?!

Wishing you a week with no mending!

Oh my gosh, so excited to say, those registered in the first session of our 2023 pieced Saturday Sampler program begin this Saturday (1-28-23) at 9:00am! During the session you will receive your first block kit, containing the block pattern and foreground fabrics, and you will get lots of info about the program and stitching the block. This is my favorite way to make a sampler quilt - little by little over the course of a year, with lots of opportunities to learn new techniques along the way!

Also this Saturday, those in our Stash Management club will meet at 10:30am. We will share show and tell of pieces made with our fabric collections, share tips for organizing our sewing spaces, and share a new scrap friendly pattern. The sessions are packed with inspiration! There is room for you in the group - you pay only a single $10.00 fee that covers all the sessions through the end of the summer!

Volume 9 issue 6 of Block magazine just arrived. It is absolutely packed with articles and projects! I began reading on the first page - read about the Amish community near Missouri Star, moved on to an article about Charisma Horton (I love her patterns - can’t wait to stitch her magazine piece, Reflect!), then read a little about quilt labels and quilt photography. The whole time I was considering which of the ten included patterns I will tackle first… I think you are going to love this issue!

New Class ~ Fat Quarter Log Cabin

Saturday ~ February 18th ~ 1:00pm-4:00pm

While at Quilt Market, I watched as Marti Michell shared the ruler she uses to quickly and accurately cut pieces for a marvelous small Log Cabin quilt. Actually, I would have watched her had the lights in our part of the convention center not gone out! After a bit of research, I realized this is a project you might really enjoy. In class you will work with just four fat quarters (I’m fairly certain you have those after last week's Fling!) and an inspiration fabric. During the session we will work to efficiently cut the strips needed, and then move on to stitching techniques that will yield a fabulous 29” x 29” piece.
