Dear Friends,

My youngest and her roommate decided it was finally time to decorate their apartment a bit. They were tired of the plain white walls. While home earlier in the week, they both started looking online for artwork - two different computers, two different rooms. Youngests’ roommate was first to spot something she liked. She called from the other room that it was large, floral, pretty, and rather sweet. To which my darling exclaimed, “No, no, no and no!” without even taking a look. The next description was that it looked rather French - still no! Next her roommate mentioned it appeared to be by an artist she didn’t know, William Morris. My youngest jumped up, grabbed the shirt she made from a Free Spirit Morris print and tossed it on as she headed to the back of the apartment calling, “Buy that!”. The two, who never agree on style in any setting, found common ground with a William Morris print! I think they would probably both agree with the famous Morris quote, “Have nothing in your house that you do not know to be useful, or believe to be beautiful.” We’ll see how long it takes for them to find another decorative item they both believe to be beautiful!

May you find beauty in surprising places this week,

Mary Beth

QC Block of the Month Premiere

Saturday ~ December 10th ~ 11:00am

Indigo Splash, shown here, is just one of eight new block of the month programs we will be introducing this Saturday. Each of the eight stunning quilts can be created over the course of several months (some are year long projects, others take fewer months), proving any project is possible when done bit by bit. We will share both traditional, and more contemporary projects for a range of quilting skill levels. Details about our 2023 Saturday Sampler projects will be included in the talk. We would love to have you join us - please stop in, or give a call to register for the presentation so we have handouts ready for you.

I love adding little quilts to my holiday decorating. Our newest kit, Pining for Christmas, is going to be the perfect addition! Kits for the 6” x 17” piece include the pattern, a white on white print for the background, red and green tone on tone prints for the trees, a bit of brown for the tree trunks, a wonderful holiday floral for the border, green for the binding, and even a print for the back (all you need to add is batting). It all comes in a cute little tin, tied with a bow - perfect to give as a gift, or great fun to construct yourself!

Kit  $16.99

Close your eyes if you don’t want a quick peek at the first five blocks in our 2022 Holiday Block Box project. I love how the tiny, 4” x 4'' blocks look!

If you snuck a peek at the first setting option for the blocks, you may have noticed what Kellie did - ugh! - a mistake!!! No, the tiny blocks and setting blocks do not make a 49” x 49” quilt - there are 49 blocks that make a 28” x 28” quilt!!! This setting for the little blocks will require one yard of backing and the other fabrics as listed on the pattern. So sorry - I may need to slow down a little!!!
