Greetings!

We devote lots of time to preparing for our annual Sidewalk Celebration. Recently you could find us creating our iconic gift baskets at unexpected moments. Last weekend Moe had a few minutes and thought she would spend them making baskets (she’s really good at it, as is her sister). She got to the classroom, got organized, made one stellar basket, and then decided she had best lock the room's door. Next she realized she needed something from the car… As she heard the faint click behind her, she realized the door locks automatically, and of course you can’t get back in (she could see the classroom key, through the window, sitting right next to the beautiful basket). Those of us with another key were about an hour away from the shop at that point. I was hoping she would just sit peacefully under a tree (on the 90° day) until we arrived, but she proceeded to get her “steps in”. As it turns out, a cute little black skirt and tank top are not the best exercise outfit! Good thing we made baskets on other days this week or there would have been only one this Saturday!

I hope you have a fun week, with chances to exercise at cooler moments!

This Saturday (7-30-22) our end of the month pieced Saturday Sampler group will meet at 9:00am. We will pass out the next kit, review the block’s pattern, and share show and tell. I will try to make the presentation as efficient as possible - I know everyone will want to get to the goodies on the sidewalk!
QC Pillowcase Race
August 6th - 20th

How is your pillowcase fabric pile stacking up?! It’s almost time to get your machine in gear! From August 6th to 20th we will be gathering pillowcases made with child friendly prints (100% cotton, quilt weight fabric please) to share with children being treated for life threatening illness in Pittsburgh. Please pre-wash the fabrics you use, as the pillowcases will be washed in the hospital setting before being shared with the children (thus, no need to bag them individually anymore). There are prizes to be won for the most created by an individual or team, and for the favorite pillowcase, but really the prize is knowing just how big an impact you can make in the life of a young patient!
QC Sidewalk Celebration
Saturday ~ July 30th ~ 10:00am-4:00pm
and Sunday ~ July 31st ~ 12:00pm-4:00pm
Have you included a quick trip to Quilters Corner in your plans for this weekend?! The deals you will find on the sidewalk are well worth the visit! You will find our “By the Bolt” pieces (all that is left on the bolt offered at incredible prices!), Rolls of Quarters (10 coordinated fat quarters, again at an unbeatable price), coordinated three yard rolls, one yard cuts, store samples, and even stunning gift baskets - in all cases, the deals will be phenomenal! Keep your fingers crossed for good weather - we’ve gotten wet a couple times in the past, which kind of cuts into the fun of the day…
I’ve mentioned holiday fabrics several times recently, but haven’t said much about the fall prints that have arrived. There are some beautiful new groups, including Harvest HIll, new from Kim Diehl. The cream prints in the collection include just a touch of the pumpkin and taupe featured in many of the other pieces in the group. A touch of red and green round out the palette of the tiny flowers, sprigs, dots and stripes - they are perfect for little fall quilts for your home or those of family and friends!
$12.10 per yard
I didn’t make it past the first pattern in the new Block magazine issue before pulling out some fabric and starting to stitch! We just opened the box earlier today! The new issue includes wonderful articles (including several focusing on color selection) and ten great projects. I’ve begun with an Itty Bitty Kitty block (the quilt requires two matching charm stracks, background and accent fabric) and plan to move on to Hexie Stacks next. I think you are going to love this issue! Magazine $7.99
Please note ~ Current shop hours are 10:00am-4:00pm Monday thru Saturday. If you are unvaccinated please wear a mask when you visit.
