Greetings!

My youngest spent the past week in a warm, sunny spot dog sitting for her brother. She took the job very seriously - following everything on her brother’s list exactly as written… Does anyone remember the Amelia Bedelia stories?... The list included give treats when he did what he was supposed to (the list didn’t say give him just a small piece of a treat), walks when he needed to go out (no one mentioned that the little ball of fur only goes for one walk a day, not four), pay attention to him and play with him (it didn’t say not all the time…). My youngest is pretty exhausted, but the dog had a great week. His owners are now trying to figure out how to get him back to normal… I figure next time they have her watch him they will have her bring a friend to distract her from the dog!

Wishing you a week filled with wonderful distractions,
Mary Beth
This Saturday (6-18-22) those registered for our applique Saturday Sampler program will meet at 9:00am. We will share shop news and the next block (another triangular shaped block!) in our medallion style samper. We can’t wait to see the blocks you are currently working on!
The next session of our Simple Whatnots Club will meet on Thursday, June 30th. Please change the date in your QC 2022 date book for this meeting. County Fair, a wonderful runner made up of 3” x 3” pieced blocks, will be the project shared this month. I love how Kim’s Right as Rain fabric collection looks in the piece - I think you are going to enjoy stitching this petite beauty! (If you would like to join the group, just give us a call so we can add your name to the list!)
QC Market Party
June 30th - July 2nd

We postponed our market party, originally scheduled for earlier in the spring, when Quilt Market was canceled, once again. I promised we would work hard to find the newest and greatest quilt world goodies to share with you at a little bit later date. We have “attended” Zoom trend meetings and classes, met with sales people from lots of different companies, and spent countless hours researching the latest trends. We will have the newest goodies in place, and be ready to share new techniques and gadgets by the end of the month! We would love to have you join us. The event includes an evening lecture at 7:00 pm on June 30th (pre-registration required so we have enough handouts for everyone!), as well as door prizes, and demonstrations during the party days. Hope you can make it!
The 2022 Southwestern PA Hop is coming to an end (although you still have a little time to squeeze in some quick visits to the 10 participating shops!). Be sure to turn in your completed passport - this huge goodie basket is just one of the prizes you could win! We want to thank Becca, from the Quilt Patch, for organizing the event. We hope you all had fun and found lots of things to inspire you along the way!
Do you have a collection of charm packs? Would you like to create something with them? We have a new Annie’s Quilting title that might have just the info you need to get started. “Time-Saving Charm Quilts” includes directions for eight classic quilts (each with a slight contemporary bent). The clearly written and illustrated directions include tips from the designers that made the different pieces. A quilting basics section rounds out the title. My version of the book’s Town Village Circle went together without a hitch. Although the piece appears to include curves, it is made completely with straight seams. It was a fun project - I’m sure the others will be too!
Book $9.99
Benartex just shipped a collection of large scale floral prints. The striking pieces, offered in a gorgeous range of colors, would be the perfect starting point for your next project. Select from the more realistic magnolias or freesia, or the more stylized damask, scroll or plume pieces - better still, how about selecting them all?!
Fabric $11.80 per yard
Please note ~ Current shop hours are 10:00am-4:00pm Monday thru Saturday. If you are unvaccinated please wear a mask when you visit.
