Greetings!

Our youngest was excited to be headed to the opera two weeks ago. Actually, she’s excited to head to every live performance… It was a chance to dress up for a special evening, and a chance to hear incredible music. As she washed her hands in the ladies room at the Met, the woman next to her told her how much she liked her dress. My sweetie responded with, “Thank you, it was $19.99 in the thrift store!”. She then admired the other woman's outfit. The woman shared the name of the designer of her jacket and how much it cost. Suffice to say, it was more than my youngest will earn in the entire summer! At that point my darling thought she might be in over her head… I think not - it proves she can fit in wherever she chooses, and she should definitely give lessons in thrift store shopping - she’s a master at it!
I hope you get a chance to show off your special talents this week!

See you soon,
Mary Beth
The next session in our 2022 applique Saturday Sampler series will be held at 9:00am this Saturday (4-23-22). We will share the next block kit (free to those bringing their completed block from last month for show and tell!) and cover how to combine the first blocks for the center of the medallion style piece. I can’t wait to see your blocks from last month!
I forgot to add our Simple Whatnots Club to the list of upcoming events published last week. Not to worry, the next meeting will be next Thursday (4-28-22). This time we will focus on the construction of Kim’s Keeping Room design. At 36 1/2” x 36 1/2” it is the largest piece in the 2022 Simple Whatnots series. I think you will be surprised to see how the intricate looking blocks and borders are created - very pleasantly surprised! Let us know if you would like us to cut you a kit for the marvelous little quilt!
Southwestern PA Shop Hop Passport Premiere Party!
Saturday - May 7th
We are busy making plans for the June 13th-18th Southwestern PA Shop Hop. In June the ten hop stops will feature goodie bags, a free fat quarter, a portion of a progressive quilt, and the chance to win prizes at every stop. You can get your first look at what we have planned when passports go on sale at our May 7th Passport Premiere Party (we sure love parties!). Little treats and a free fat quarter will be given to those purchasing their passport on the 7th!
Two all time favorite classes have been added to the shop calendar - I hope the scheduled times work for you!
Crazy Quilt as You Go
Saturday ~ May 7th and 21st ~ 12:00pm-3:00pm
In this technique class Bonnie covers the steps used to create a novel crazy quilt. After piecing your sewing machine and its decorative stitches do all the quilting in small, manageable steps. Once you have learned the technique, it can be applied to any size quilt. At the end of the two session class you will have a completed 48” x 48” throw.
Fee $39.00 (class supply list will be provided when you register for class)
Machine Binding
Friday ~ May 20th ~ 12:30pm-3:00pm
Are you frustrated with traditional binding techniques? Do your hands ache after hand stitching the binding to your quilt backing? There’s another way! In this class Kathie will share her proven, totally “by machine” method. You will be as impressed with your results as judges have been when they looked at Kathie’s work! You will need to bring a small quilted piece to class so you can work the binding steps during the session.
Fee $21.00 (class supply list will be provided when you register for class)
Tulip Tango, designed by Robin Pickens to showcase her favorite flower, has just arrived! The group features the bold blooms in cream, pink, cranberry and chartreuse. You will find large tulips, tiny tulips, and tulips at the center of delicate paisleys in this group. Little dots also make their way onto the prints - in the tulip print backgrounds, but also scattered across her Thatched print (a new twist for this favorite design!). I have already used the pieces in a spring runner - what will you plan for the fabulous pieces? Fabric $11.99 per yard
If you’re a fan of polka dot prints, you are going to love the new Spot fat quarter stacks! These Kaffe Classics are offered in three different tonal combinations - light, medium and dark. Each stack contains twenty totally tempting fat quarters - a whole lot of design potential in one neat package! $76.00 per twenty fat quarter stack
