Greetings!

The dinner conversations at our house would probably seem pretty strange to others. I spent several minutes at the table the other night explaining my frustration with an 1/8” error in a pattern. From there we moved on to discussion about the trendy bathroom tile my sweetie was going to install the next day. Basically, because of the size of the tile it would fit perfectly on the five foot long wall, but then how wide should the grout lines be… As a quilter I asked if there would be the same number of grout lines in each row. After his strange look, I realized it really wouldn’t make that much difference as he could trim the tiles at the end of the row to whatever size was needed. If I tried that with a quilt none of the points or rows would match! He shared a picture at dinner tonight of the back shower wall - beautifully done, perfectly straight lines. Of course that took the purchase of a new tool, a laser level. Since I can’t think of a way to use the level for quilting, I think I get to buy a new tool, too. There must be a new ruler I need!

I hope all your measurements, and tools work out perfectly this week.

Happy stitching,
Mary Beth

The meeting for the third block in our 2022 pieced Saturday Sampler, for those registered for the end of the month sessions, will be this Saturday at 9:00am. I hope you can make it - this month I want to share information about several things that are best done a little differently from the pattern. The blocks are turning out great. I can’t wait to see yours!

Please note - Those registered in the pieced Saturday Sampler group that meets at the beginning of the month will meet on April 9th - yes, a week later than usual!!!
Our March Stash Management session will also be this Saturday (3-26-22). We will share tips for organizing your collection, a pattern that will help you cut into the fabrics you have, and show and tell (to say nothing of the laughs that round out the session!). We can now welcome more guests at a time in the classroom - please let us know if you would like to join the group.
PB & J Day
Saturday ~ April 2nd

This would seem to be a rather strange holiday for us to celebrate, especially if you know my feelings about peanut butter and jelly (it’s ok, but…). We celebrate the classic combination in order to benefit the local food pantry. Bring a donation of peanut butter and/or jelly when you visit on April 2nd and we will hand over this year’s pattern for a PB & J table runner and a fat quarter to get the piece started. A sweet deal all around!
Three Rivers Quilters Show!
April 7th - 9th

After making an error while writing about a show in the past, I have pretty much avoided sharing quilt show information in online letters. I’m now so excited to be able to share information about an in-person show, I’m going for it! The Three Rivers guild show is just a few weeks away. The juried and judged show will feature stunning quilts, Granny’s Attic (where donated quilting goodies are sold to benefit the guild), demonstrations, vendors, and raffles. Snag an information sheet when you next visit, or head to the guild website, for all the details regarding times and location. I can’t wait to see you at the Meadows!
I want to share a quick look at an incredible new fabric collection, Glyphs. I remember being intrigued as I ordered the fabrics at some point last year, but can now say I was even more impressed as I pulled the bolts from their boxes! The designer's background in graphic design, art, and creative writing is evident as you study the black, white, caramel and gray prints. ebond describes the designs as being born from “a series of marks asking questions around what can language be made of”. I hope you will take time to research her work as you contemplate what you will make with the striking prints. I have to admit, I am cheating a bit on figuring out what I will make. When I was first shown the line artwork an image of Modern Churn, by Tammy Silvers, was included. The pattern will arrive in the next few days - I can’t wait to get it started!
Fabric $11.90 per yard See these fabrics online...
Our regional coordinator will be here very soon to pick up the pillowcases you guys brought in over the last two weeks. She is going to be so surprised, so pleasantly surprised! Thank you so much - you all are amazing!!!
Please note ~ As the CDC and state pandemic rules are modified, we too change our requirements.
