Greetings!

Do you ever think your family might be playing tricks on you? I can almost hear them conspiring… I love grocery shopping with my Mom. I pretty much know what things she wants, and where to find them in the wonderful, small regional grocery chain she likes. Earlier this week I asked my youngest if she would like me to bring anything when I visit. I figured she might want things like her spring wardrobe. Nope, she started texting me item after item on her grocery list. As I read the list I realized it was virtually identical to my Mom’s list. Her list didn’t include lemons and Mom didn’t have ramen on hers - otherwise - identical! Either they’re pulling my leg, or their bond, even at a distance, is unmistakable!

Wishing you a week of beautiful connections.

This Saturday (2-26-22) those registered for the end of the month pieced Saturday Sampler program will meet at 9:00am. This week you will be greeted by a guest presenter. It is likely Debbie has helped you select fabrics in the shop in the past, but you may not know she is an experienced quilting teacher. She will share the methods she is using to create her version of this year’s sampler quilt. Her techniques are likely to be different from those we covered in the first session - how wonderful to have new construction options! Remember to bring your completed block from the first session in order to receive the second kit free. There’s no problem if you haven’t completed the first block, or can not make it to the session - that just means your second kit will be $5.00 plus tax.

Also this Saturday - Stop in at any point during the day to “grab and go” the next installment of our QC Stash Management Club. You will find a little display in the front of the shop showing how the blocks that make up the new club project are made. You will receive a pattern for the project and a letter that shares shop and club information. While not the same as an in person session, it should still help you with your sewing space organizing.
New fabrics are everywhere in the shop! I was looking at a marvelous new Alexander Henry print when I realized how well some of the Spectrum tone-on-tone pieces on the other side of the cutting table coordinated with the print. The Alexander Henry print features bold, stylized birds in deep bright colors accented with gold. Many of the prints' colors can be found in the different Spectrum pieces. The little bit of pattern seen on the tone-on-tone pieces appears to have been made by a brush - just enough pattern to add a bit of subtle texture to a project.
Alexander Henry print $12.80 per yard (see online...),
Spectrum prints $12.50 per yard (see online...)
New classes ~ We are slowly adding classes to our schedule. Some are being offered as lectures, while others are more “hands on”. We are keeping an eye on the ever changing public health guidelines in an attempt to provide a safe environment for both teachers and students (please note - some sessions will require participants to wear a mask - we ask that you wait for a future session if this will be a problem).
Beginning Quilting ~ Q & A!
Saturday ~ March 19th ~ 3:00pm-4:30pm

This new lecture style class is for those who began quilting with little or no instruction. You know there must be a better way to do some of the things involved in quiltmaking - you just don’t know what they might be! We will cover a wide range of tips for everything from selecting and preparing fabrics for your projects, to accurately cutting and piecing the beautiful fabrics you select, while still leaving time to answer your questions! Please bring paper and pencil to class.
Fee $12.00 Pre-registration at least one week before class is required so we can have supplies ready for you.
Intro to Hand Applique
Friday ~ March 25th ~ 10:30am-12:30pm

Hand applique is a most useful skill to master. It allows you to create beautiful pictorial works, but can also be very useful in other applications. In class you will work on a small applique design that includes pieces that allow the teacher to share how she works stems, leaves and petals, and circles. The block will be smaller, but similar in style to the blocks in our 2022 Applique Saturday Samper project (block #2 from the medallion style quilt is shown here). You will have time for a bit of stitching in class, and leave with lots of tips that will help as you continue practicing at home.
Class fee includes pattern, fabric kit and applique supplies - please bring small sewing scissors, paper scissors, and paper and pencil to class.
Fee $24.00 Pre-registration at least one week before class is required so we have supplies ready for you.
It seems like a good day to repeat this ~
During the winter months, please call to be sure we have made it into the shop before you set out for a visit. The weather can be very different from neighborhood to neighborhood in this part of the world!

Please note ~ As the CDC and state pandemic rules are modified, we too change our requirements. If you are fully vaccinated you may now enter Quilters Corner without a mask (if you feel comfortable doing so). If you are not fully vaccinated please continue to wear a mask when you visit. So very sorry - we do not have a public restroom. Our shop hours are currently 10:00am-4:00pm, Monday through Saturday.
