Greetings!

A call from my youngest that begins with “Is Dad still awake?” always makes me a bit nervous. I tentatively said he wasn’t and asked why she wanted to know. A friend had called her an hour earlier to say he was stuck in his room. There seemed to be an issue with the room’s doorknob, so he jiggled it and pulled the door closed. Bad plan. He told her he would be fine as he had his books, computer, desk, and bed. Another friend that lives in the apartment had just called, asking her to bring her tools (the trapped student realized there was one thing he was missing…). I was pleased that I could explain there are screws on the knob backplate that allow it to be taken apart (of course I had no idea what side of the door the screws might be on). The trapped friend managed to free himself before she got there - not sure if he used their only tool, a hammer, but I figure they certainly need a new knob at this point!
I wonder if my kids giggle as much when I call to ask them computer questions?!
Wishing you a fun week with only easily answered questions,
Mary Beth
The second session for our 2022 applique Saturday Sampler program will be held this Saturday (2-19-22) at 9:00am. We will share the second block in the program, and information that will help you stitch the block’s bold flower. Remember to bring your completed block from last month in order to receive the new kit for free!
I wish everyone had been able to attend our first Christmas Club meeting of the year. On Wednesday we enjoyed member show and tell and a look at five different projects that would make great gifts. It may seem way too early to be working on gifts, but having several handmade gifts ready sure makes the last months of the year more enjoyable! Consider joining us for the next meeting on March 16th (pre-registration required so we have enough little gifts ready for everyone - yes, you get a little fabric gift at each session!) Fee $5.00 per session
2022 Simple Whatnots Club begins February 24th!
Kim Diehl’s new fabric collection, Right as Rain, will be featured in each of the small quilts that make up her 2022 Simple Whatnots series. I love the dots, stars, tiny leaves, flowers and paisley designs of the red, rose, brown, beige, pumpkin, teal, green and navy collection. While the small quilts look quite intricate, they will be constructed with the help of Kim’s wonderful patterns and a bit of instruction - you’ll be amazed by what you create! During our 10:30am meetings we share news from the shop, enjoy member show and tell, and review the techniques used to make the sesion samples. If you join the group from a distance (and are not able to make the meetings) you will receive the pattern, a kit if you have ordered one, and a brief letter covering much of what we share at our “in person” session. The program has proven to be great fun and a fantastic way to learn new quilting skills!
Fee - $6.00 per session (includes pattern), kits available by special order for each project - kit prices vary depending on the size of the quilt
You can imagine our excitement when the three huge boxes that arrived Monday were packed with 27 new batik bolts! The Island Batiks prints, with names like Proud Peacock, Fancy Feathers, Twilight Glow, Sticks n Stones and more, arrived in bright shades of yellow, pink, purple, blue, turquoise and green - they’re exquisite!!! $11.95 per yard
Block of the Month ~ Belmond Square
Belmond Square is a gorgeous 67” x 67” medallion style quilt worked over the course of seven installments. The quilt features piecing and applique in a new Northcott fabric collection. Passion, the fabric collection, includes botanical and geometric prints in rich blues and greens. The designer intends the striking applique to be worked by machine, but I bet the flowers would be spectacular worked with hand applique! We will begin cutting kits today, and would love to cut one for you! Series begins March 1st!
Fabric kit - $119.95 (includes fabric for top and binding), patterns - installment 1- 6 $4.25 per month, installment 7 our gift for making it to the end of the program!
It seems like a good day to repeat this ~
During the winter months, please call to be sure we have made it into the shop before you set out for a visit. The weather can be very different from neighborhood to neighborhood in this part of the world!

Please note ~ As the CDC and state pandemic rules are modified, we too change our requirements. If you are fully vaccinated you may now enter Quilters Corner without a mask (if you feel comfortable doing so). If you are not fully vaccinated please continue to wear a mask when you visit. So very sorry - we do not have a public restroom. Our shop hours are currently 10:00am-4:00pm, Monday through Saturday.
