Greetings!

Someone asked last week if my sweetie fixes things. Well, yes… The lawnmower stopped working on the weekend. He figured it was “just” the belt. Little did he know he would have to remove the plastic covers, the handle, and the wheels to get to the belt! At that point he needed a new belt - not that easy to come by at the moment. He found one several days later, in the third store he checked. That evening he told me he would have it back together in five minutes. An hour later I was trying to decide if he might have said sixty-five minutes. When he came upstairs he said, “Look up stubborn”. I’m pretty certain he thought I would find his picture if I did! I kind of wonder if we did a time/cost analysis if we would find out a new mower would have been a better option!

I’m getting ready for this week’s Saturday Sampler Applique session (9:00am on 10-16-21). I’ve promised a squirrel block for months - who knew he would be so hard to draw?! I’ve watched the squirrels in my backyard, front yard, on the trail - people are probably starting to wonder why I keep taking pictures of squirrels! After finally getting the drawing worked out, it was time to select the fabrics for your kit. Should the little creature be gray, or brown, or black,… If I don’t start stitching soon there won’t be anything to show Saturday! Do remember to bring your completed blocks from last month so your next kit will be free!  
We will hold our next Christmas Club session Wednesday, October 20th at 10:30am. I’ve just started gathering all the things I will share that morning. There are so many wonderful new things - this is definitely the year to focus on making holiday gifts! We will share the items we have made in the last month, review a pattern from the fall issue of Quilts & More (our current club “textbook”), and enjoy demos of other great new quilty goodies - sew much fun - we would love to have you join us!

Contempo’s new Frolic prints greet you as you walk in the shop this week. Amanda Murphy shares that the vibrant, contemporary prints are her celebration of nature. You will find large and small flowers, cobblestones, and an intricate circle design offered in rich plum, raspberry, leaf green, and blue. I found them irresistible. In fact, I began my version of Cha Cha Cha, a runner pattern from Terry Atkinson, before the prints made it to their spot up front in the shop. The piece went together quickly, with the help of Terry’s marvelous directions. I put a rather ordinary little print on the back of the runner - if it was larger I would have used the bold backing print that is part of the line. Not to worry, I snagged some of the teal version for Bloom (a free pattern found on Amanda’s website that uses the backing as the center of a pieced medallion style throw!). As soon as her Windows pattern arrives, I plan to start it with my backing scraps from Bloom. Can you tell I love the collection? It’s worth a look!
