Greetings!
My youngest currently lives in a funky, fabulous apartment near campus. There is one tiny little issue - there is no way to send her special goodies, as the mailboxes are tiny, and accessible to anybody. Every visit we make, we load the car with things she requests… This time I headed to a store late in the evening before our departure for the requested item, a tension rod (a fairly long tension rod…). After arriving and parking, we lugged things we’d brought up the stairs to her place. I have to tell you, a Kitchen Aid mixer gets heavier and heavier as you climb stairs! She called yesterday after looking all over her apartment for the tension rod I bought. Do you ever have that fleeting thought that a lie might not be such a bad idea? I admitted the tension rod is still tucked neatly under the back seat in my car! I think the new game is going to be keeping track of how many times I can drive away and still have it in the car.

I hope your backseat doesn’t contain anything you meant to leave somewhere!

On my goodness, the year is flying by! This Saturday, October 2nd, if you are registered you will be able to attend the next Bright Hopes session at 9:00am. You will also find the next installment of your “My Favorite Color is Moda” ready to pick up. At least you won’t be bored (and don’t worry, I’m working on new projects that will keep you busy next year, too!).
Fifteen new, gorgeous Kaffe Collective prints arrived today (yes, these are the August 2021 prints). You will find new floral prints in brilliant colors, as well as a new version of Philip Jacobs’ spectacular leaf print (I love the green and hyacinth colorway!). This group also includes a fantastic black and white linework print. In one version white lines fall on a black background, while in the other the black lines are on a white background. The bold graphic design works incredibly well with the flowing florals of the other prints! Your Kaffe collection needs these pieces! Fabric $12.00 per yard
New books and patterns are rolling in at an amazing clip - thought you might like to take a quick “look” at these two ~
Let’s Get Scrappy is new from Annie’s. Their ever expanding booklet collection has proven to include lots of best sellers, and this one is sure to follow suit. In the booklet you will find patterns for nine scrap “eating” projects. The quilts are different in style and technique, making them appropriate for a wide range of scraps. The booklet includes beautiful lifestyle and full, flat photos of each project. Clearly written and illustrated directions work with the photos to keep you on track during construction. I have begun pulling bits and pieces for the cover quilt - I can’t wait to start stitching the complicated looking, yet simple to construct stunner! Book $9.99
I used some of my Kim Diehl fabric scraps, and one of her background prints, for my version of the new Women’s Circle pattern. The design for the interlocking stars piece is offered in two sizes in the pattern - no surprise, I made the small version first! For this one you create the units for simple pieced stars, but stitch them together in a unique way that makes the star points interact with each other. The petite, 12 1/2” x 16 1/2”, quilt was great fun to make! Pattern $9.00
