Greetings!
My youngest decided to try to get close to the Met Gala after class on Monday. She went to class, got lunch with friends, and studied for a while before setting out. It was a bit of a hike - twenty blocks, and across Central Park… When she got near the Met there were too many people, making way too much noise for her, so she turned around and started walking back to where she started. She called me when she realized why the walk felt like so much work. She had forgotten that she bought a huge jar of spaghetti sauce when they stopped at the deli for lunch (it was a really good deal…). She had tucked it in her cute homemade tote bag (her creation from Ruby Star Society fabric), along with her computer and books, and proceeded to carry it around for four hours, and at least four miles!

May your tote bag be reasonably heavy this week - filled only with fabric!

There is lots going on in the shop this Saturday! If you are registered, you may attend the 9:00am Applique Saturday Sampler session (the newest kit includes patterns and fabric for wren, sunflower and blueberry blocks). Our new Stash Management series begins on Saturday, as well. Please note - you must be pre-registered for this new series, as seating is limited.
Sew a Jelly Roll Day
Saturday ~ September 18th

While we won’t actually sew with 2 1/2” strips in the shop on Saturday, we will certainly celebrate Sew a Jelly Roll Day! Jelly Rolls have been a hit from the very beginning - the first ones were offered in 2006! Each Jelly Roll contains forty 2 1/2” by width of the fabric strips from a given fabric collection. What a fantastic way to snag a little bit of everything! On Saturday you will find Jelly Rolls tucked in many of our displays, you will receive a free Jelly Roll pattern, and you will be able to enter to win a Jelly Roll prize.
If your fabric collection could use a bit of bold color, in striking modern prints, check out Palette Impressions. The beautiful pieces look like an artist carefully swiped each piece with vibrant purple, blue, green, pink and orange strokes. These will work cut into little bits, or left as large accent pieces. Love them!
Fabric $11.99 per yard
Do stop and look to your right as you enter the shop this week. You will find the entire Benartex Weave print collection! The rainbow of subtle, tone-on-tone prints works with almost every fabric in the shop - it might work perfectly with those in your collection, too!
Fabric $11.80 per yard
How about a quick peek at one of the pieces I am working on for our From Our Table event? I loved the simple, elegant style of the Jemma’s Jewel table runner as soon as I spied the pattern. I pulled, and then cut right into some Starflower Christmas prints the minute the pattern arrived. The pattern directions were easy to follow - resulting in a new 15” x 27” runner top in just an evening! Now on to the quilting…
Pattern $6.50, fabric kit (includes fabrics for top and binding, kit does not include pattern) $24.85
Please note ~ As the CDC and state pandemic rules are modified, we too change our requirements.
