Greetings!
This week’s adventure is all about trying to stock the kitchen of a new apartment, without breaking the budget. My youngest was terribly excited to find a pan she liked in a thrift store. Once again, her pick is one I’ve seen before… She tucked the small Revere Ware pan into her cart, and later added it to her pile of treasures. Strangest thing happened - it was mysteriously joined by other Revere Ware pieces later. I had no idea where they came from until my sweetie admitted they came from a storage drawer in our laundry room. Obviously, that means we should clean out those drawers, as the last time we would have used that pan was twenty years ago! Anyway, now we are researching how to restore the pans - how to polish the bottoms and restore the bakelite handles. I figure if we had given them this much attention in the past, we never would have stopped using them!
Here’s hoping you find some great treasures this week!
Happy stitching,
Mary Beth

I’m having lots of fun getting ready for Saturday. You will be able to pick up your pieced Saturday Sampler, Bright Hopes, kits (if you are part of the end of the month group) and your Christmas Club packets. I love how the projects are coming out for both groups! I’m also working on the Simple Whatnots Club pieces for this coming Thursday. You can stop in for a sort of “meet and greet” session, or pick up your club goodies at any point after Thursday. As pandemic rules change, we are making plans to offer our programs in ways more like “usual”. Fingers crossed - in person sessions make a return soon!

One of my favorite magazines just arrived. I can’t wait to read every page of the spring 2021 issue of Quilt Sampler! This is the magazine that takes you on a tour of ten exquisite quilt shops. Some of the shops are fairly close, others farther away - I’m pretending I’m walking through the door of each! Each shop shares a peek at their gorgeous displays, and a pattern created just for the magazine. After I’m done reading, I plan to start piecing Main Attraction - this issue is going to keep my sewing machine humming!
Magazine $7.99

Just a quick question - have you started your plan for the annual QC Pillowcase Race? August isn’t really that far off… The need for your wonderful creations hasn’t subsided. Each pillowcase made and donated will be shared with a child being treated for a life threatening illness in Pittsburgh. Pillowcases made from quilt weight cotton, in child friendly prints, are appreciated more than you will ever know.

I have to share Nancy’s cute rendition of a quilting gnome - the protector of the “good” scissors! I love that her version of Gnomeo & Juliet sports gray hair - I’m not sure the importance of the good scissors is understood before you have gray hair! The piece will be part of our displays for the “Gnome on the Roam” Southwestern PA Shop Hop. As we work on the pieces we will share, I get more excited for the June 25th to July 3rd event - do you have your passport?!
Pattern $10.00

New books and patterns have begun to arrive at a pretty good clip. “Fast & Fun Quilts for Kids” is my new favorite. The booklet includes ten great projects that aren’t just for kids. Each of the pieces is wonderful. You will find detailed supply lists and written directions, color construction illustrations, and beautiful photos for each of the variously sized projects. The pieces show off a range of fabrics - from scrappy style, to those made with shades of a single color. I began Waves of Color earlier in the week. I hit my scrap basket for the first block - plan on hitting the fat 1/8’s in the shop for the next! I think you will find lots you want to make in this one!
