Greetings!
My youngest called this week to tell me there was a serious omission in her cooking education. All I could think was, how could that be? She insisted I pick her up and put her on a chair to help cook before she was old enough to drag the chair over and climb up… She was measuring the ingredients when she was two, and doing baking experiments by the time she was in elementary school! So, she needed to bake cookies for an event. Being the nice mom I am, I responded with, “Ok, twenty minutes to mix the dough and forty to bake the entire batch…”. While that is her method at home, things were a bit different this time. She borrowed a cookie sheet from one friend, and an oven from another. The real error was the frozen cookie dough (which she was right about us never using!). Well, maybe it actually was not reading all the directions. It took four hours and tears to get a batch of cookies. I think I should get credit for not pointing out there is a wonderful Italian bakery two blocks from the oven she was using…
I hope your new experiences this week are all pleasant!
Happy stitching,
Mary Beth

This Saturday you will be able to pick up packets for your Saturday Sampler Applique blocks and your Bliss applique project. I’m having great fun stitching all the flowers and creatures that make up the pieces. The calla lilies in the Bliss block look exactly like the one I bought for our table at Easter - I can pretend it’s still blooming when I look at my stitching! There will be samples of the Saturday Sampler blocks to see, while you will have to check Facebook to see the Bliss on Saturday (It won’t be finished, but it should be in the shop by Monday!).

Be sure to take a look at your QC date book - you may want to stop in on Saturday… Hopefully there will be lots of Quilters Corner events to add to the date book in the near future - keep your fingers crossed! Change is coming - the state plans to modify pandemic rules very soon. We will wait a few weeks to make changes, in hopes all goes smoothly, but then there will be some real celebrations!

Oh, Woof, new from Art Gallery, includes the cutest renditions of man's best friend I have seen in a long time! Adorable line drawings of dogs, in both a cool and warm colorway, are complemented by little footprints, dog bones, and even a fire hydrant print! You will also find a whimsical version of a park with tiny dogs, of course. It would be so cute made into a little girl’s dress!

Riley Blake just sent the complete Old Made collection. The J. Wecker Frisch prints have a funky, retro vibe. The orange, black and white group includes a take on vintage playing card designs, snaps as dots, zipper stripes, pincushions, and even a petite cat stamp print. The sewing “twist” in this fall group makes it irresistible!
$11.50 per yard (panel price varies depending on size)

I’m happy to say no intricate dance steps (or sewing steps!) are needed for Cha Cha Cha. The new Atkinson Designs runner pattern is another of their “Simple Patterns - Tried and True”. This time you will turn a variety of prints (either charms, 2 1/2” strips, scraps of fat eighths!), and an accent, and border fabric into a runner or two placemats. Terry has sprinkled helpful tips throughout the clearly written and illustrated directions. You are going to love how the undulating border appears by magic as you piece! I think a set for every holiday, and every table is in order!
Pattern $10.00
